Outdoor Adventure Leadership Certificate
Do you love to explore and have the desire to work in the great outdoors?
Fitness and Recreation has teamed up with the Department of Kinesiology to offer a certificate program that will provide students with a strong foundation of experience and knowledge to work in the Outdoor Adventure profession. Beginning in the fall 2014, you can enroll in classes and work toward completing the 16 hour requirement for the Outdoor Adventure Leadership Certificate.
The certificate will provide learning opportunities through practical experiences that will build specialized skills that can be utilized in outdoor activities including climbing, camping, hiking, and challenge course facilitation. Students who complete the program will have the knowledge and skills to be a leader in outdoor adventure organizations such as parks and recreation, churches, university outdoor programs, educational settings and many other outdoor activity based programs.
The certificate program is open to all TWU students. In addition to a classroom learning environment, students will participate in outdoor activities that will encourage leadership, group dynamics, conflict resolution, communication, organization and teamwork. Students will also have the opportunity to apply their skills in a real world setting through an outdoor leadership immersion course.
