Outdoor Adventure Program

The Outdoor Adventure Program exists to promote the great outdoors by providing low cost trips, equipment rentals, and travel resources to the TWU community.  We offer several trips throughout the year including overnight and day trips.  Previous trips have taken us whitewater rafting in Colorado and snorkeling in Hawaii!  Whether you are a beginner or advanced outdoor enthusiast, we have a trip for you.  Join us and get out of Denton to explore the great outdoors!

Outdoor Adventure Rental Center
Hours:  Monday thorugh Friday 3pm - 8pm

While our trips are only open to current TWU students, the OAC rental program is open to the TWU community.  Located in the Student Recreation Center, the OAC provides various outdoor equipment rentals including kayaks, tents, bikes and more.  We also have an extended library of travel books, DVD's and magazines from the United States and around the world to help you research your next adventure or activity.  All of our resources can be checked out for free to current TWU students, faculty, and staff with a valid ID.

All rentals are on a first come, first serve basis. Contact the OAC (940-898-2918) during open hours for more information or call the Fitness Center front desk (940-898-2900).

2013/2014 Trip Information  

Registration is now open for all trips at the Outdoor Adventure Center M-F 3pm - 8pm

What:  Urban Adventure  (3 spots available)        
Where:  
Chicago, Illinois.  
When:  September 27th-29th, 2013   
Cost:  $375 - 3 month pay plan available.  (includes r/t airfare, lodging, and biking/kayaking excursions) 
Skill level:  Beginner/Intermediate   
Details:  Join us for a weekend urban adventure in Chicago as we enjoy great food, shop the Magnificent Mile, kayak through the skyscapers of Chicago on the Chicago River and bike around Lake Michigan. 

What:  Caribbean Adventure  (wait list only)         
Where:  
U.S. Virgin Islands   
When:  December 15th-20th, 2013  
Cost:  $675 - 6 month pay plan available.  (includes, r/t airfare, lodging, and most excursions) 
Skill level:  Beginner/Intermediate
Details:  This trip will take us to the Caribbean for snorkeling, SCUBA diving, hiking and more!  A passport is not required for this trip.          

What:  Skiing/Snowboarding  (8 spots available)

Park City, UT   
When:  January 4th-8th, 2014  
Cost:  $575 - 6 month pay plan available.  (includes r/t airfare, lodging, transportation, 3 day lift tickets and ski rentals) 
Skill level:  Beginner
Details:  Join us this winter for a ski/snowboard trip to Park City, Utah.  Park City was the home of the 2002 Winter Olympics and is consistently ranked as one of the top 5 ski resorts in North America.

Cost: 
$1350 - 11 month pay plan available.  (includes r/t airfare, lodging, major transportation within Italy, hiking and biking fees, and some attraction fees) 
Skill level:  Intermediate/Advanced
Details:  Join us as we spend 7 days exploring Italy through activities such as an 11 mile hike through the 5 coastal villages of the Cinque Terre and an 15 mile bike ride through the hills of Tuscany.  A current US passport is required and participants must be in good physical condition to go on the trip.
