Register for Spring 2016 Programs 

TWU Intramural Sports offers students, faculty, and staff the opportunity to participate in many sports and activities throughout the year.  Participants can continue playing their favorite sports or try a new activity for the first time.  Fitness & Recreation offers individual and team leagues such as basketball, volleyball, soccer, flag football and many others each semester.  You can organize your own team or sign up as a free agent to be placed on a team. All skill levels are welcome!   

The Intramural Sports Program seeks to promote a healthy lifestyle through physical activity in a fun, competitive atmosphere.  Playing sports and being active is a great way to meet new people on campus. Join a league or tournament today!

 League & Tournament Information

Women’s, Men’s, and COED Basketball League – One of the most popular intramural sport at TWU offers a large variety of competition and leagues suited for all skill levels. These basketball leagues play 5 on 5 with a maximum of 12 players per team. The Women’s and Men’s  league starts February 15th  and will be played on Mondays starting at 7pm. COED leagues will start on February 17th and will be played on Wednesdays starting at 7pm. All games are played in the Fit & Rec gym and you can register as a free agent or create your own team.  All skill levels are welcome! Cost: $5/TWU student, Fit & Rec member, or TWU Faculty/Staff

Wheel Chair Basketball League – Join us for the 3 on 3 wheelchair basketball league. This league is inclusive and we will provide all the wheelchairs. League starts February 17th and games will be played on Wednesday’s beginning at 7pm in Fit & Rec gym. You can register as a free agent or create your own team.  All skill levels are welcome! Cost: $5/TWU student, Fit & Rec member, or TWU Faculty/Staff

Bench Press Competition - Hit the gym often? This is a test of strength for both men and women! Prior to the competition, participants will weigh in. The amount of weight that they will compete with will be based on a body weight chart containing the percentages. The event will take place in the Fit & Rec on Friday, March 4th starting at 1pm. All skill levels are welcome! Cost: $5/TWU student, Fit & Rec member, or TWU Faculty/Staff

Battleship  Tournament - Battleship is one of the most popular sports in the intramural sports program! Each ship (canoe) will consist of 3 students and they will be given buckets to use to sink the other ships. The object is to be the last boat floating. The tournament will start at 7pm and be played on Tuesday, March 8th at the Indoor Pool in Pioneer Hall. You can register as a free agent or create your own team.  All skill levels are welcome! Cost: $5/TWU student, Fit & Rec member, or TWU Faculty/Staff

COED, Women’s and Men’s Indoor Soccer League – This is an indoor soccer league that plays 6 on 6 with the maximum of 12 players per team. The COED league starts March 22nd and will be played on Tuesdays starting at 7pm. Women’s and Men’s leagues will start on March 24th and will be played on Thursdays starting at 7pm. All games are played in the Fit & Rec gym and you can register as a free agent or create your own team. All skill levels are welcome! Cost: $5/TWU student, Fit & Rec member, or TWU Faculty/Staff

Recreational & Elite Sand Volleyball League - Come spike, set and dig with TWU Intramural Sports! The recreational league is 6 on 6 with a maximum of 12 players per team. The elite league is 4 on with a maximum of 6 players per team. The rec league starts March 28th and will be played on Mondays starting at 4:30pm. The elite league starts March 30th and will be played on Wednesdays starting at 4:30pm. You can register as a free agent or create your own team. All games will be played at the sand volleyball courts next to Stark/Guinn and all skill levels are welcome! Cost: $5/TWU student, Fit & Rec member, or TWU Faculty/Staff

Tennis (Singles) League – Register to play in the intramural tennis league! Although we can assure you that no one has ever beaten a wall at tennis, it is certainly possible to win an Intramural Champion shirt. The singles tennis league starts March 29th and will be played on Tuesdays beginning at 5pm. All games are played at the tennis courts located north east of the new soccer field. All skill levels are welcome! Cost: $5/TWU student, Fit & Rec member, or TWU Faculty/Staff

3 on 3 Basketball Tournament – Come play in this one day basketball tournament that will be held in the Fit & Rec gym. This is a COED 3 on 3 tournament with a maximum of 4 players per team, however you are not required to filed a COED team. You may register as a free agent or create your own team. The tournament will be played on Friday, 4/15 in Fit & Rec gym . All skill levels are welcome! Cost: $5/TWU student, Fit & Rec member, or TWU Faculty/Staff

Kayak Water Polo Tournament  - Kayak Polo is a competitive ball game between 2 teams paddling kayaks, in the pool, attempting to score goals against the opposition. The tournament is played 4 on 4 with the maximum of 4 players per team. The kayak water polo tournament will be played on Tuesday, 5/3 starting at 7pm in the Indoor Pool in Pioneer Hall. You can register as a free agent or create your own team. All skill levels are welcome! Cost: $5/TWU student, Fit & Rec member, or TWU Faculty/Staff

 

How to Register for Intramural Sports

 

Registration for all intramural sport programs takes place at the Fitness & Recreation front desk.  Individuals without a team can register as a free agent.  

Sportsmanship Policy

In order to promote good sportsmanship, the intramural program has adopted a sportsmanship policy.  It is the responsibility of the team and players to make sure the game atmosphere is friendly and fun to both staff and fellow participants.
