Maude Abbie Gage Sterling

Maude Abbie Gage moved from Illinois to a farm in Kansas. Her parents moved to a farm near Anahuac, Texas. Here Maude Abbie Gage met and married Ross Sterling, a very successful businessman. |

1910 - Ross Sterling acquired two oil wells, which he developed into an oil and refining company. He purchased two newspapers, established Houston's first radio and broadcasting station. Governor Moody appointed him Chairman of the Highway Commission.

Maude Abbie Gage Sterling was a member of the Houston YWCA Board and of the Daughters of the American Revolution. |

The gown is made of black satin brocade with an overblouse of black chiffon which features a cowl drape at the neckline. |
