Loans by Web


Stafford Loans and Parent Loans are made through TG Loans By Web.

TWU and Texas Guaranteed Student Loan Corporation (TG) have teamed up to provide you a Web-based loan application called TG Loans By Web. You can complete the loan application online in 10 or 15 minutes and receive immediate feedback about your loan guarantee. Students and Parents can reduce or decline loan awards or confirm receipt of the MPN or PLUS process. The following will guide you step-by-step through the process of completing the loan application ONLY AFTER YOU HAVE RECEIVED YOUR AWARD LETTER NOTIFICATION FROM TWU OR EMAIL FROM TG.

Things to Remember

  • You must first receive your Award Letter Notification and/or an email from TG indicating that you have been awarded a Stafford or Parent Loan.
  • You will not receive your loan until you have completed the application process through TG Loans By Web. If you have difficulty with this contact TG at (800) 845-6267.
  • Failure to complete this process for each loan when notified will cause a delay in receipt of your loan funds and in some cases could result in your classes being dropped.
  • If you are a first-time TWU student, you are required to complete Entrance Loan / Debt Management Counseling.
  • Be prepared to provide the names, addresses, and telephone numbers of two references.
  • If necessary, download the free Adobe Acrobat software needed to print your Master Promissory Note (MPN) and Borrower's Right & Responsibilities. (http://www.adobe.com/)
  • You may have the option to electronically sign (E-sign) a Master Promissory Note (MPN) with certain lenders. To do so, obtain a Department of Education Personal Identification Number or PIN at www.pin.ed.gov. This is the same PIN used to electronically sign your Free Federal Application for Federal Aid (FAFSA).
  • Do not send signed MPNs to TWU. TWU will be notified of your loan electronically.
  • Be prepared to provide a valid e-mail address. TWU & TG will communicate important loan processing information via your email address. Promptly read and act upon emails from TG and TG Customer Assistance. (cust.assist@tgslc.org)

Completing the Process

Please begin this process only AFTER you have received your Award Notification Letter from TWU and/or an email notification from Texas Guaranteed Student Loan Corporation (TG) regarding your loan award.

  1. Click on the Loans By Web link and login using your Social Security Number and date of birth. You may also open a new browser window to TG Loans By Web at https://lbw.tgslc.org/. If you are a Parent Loan borrower you will need to be sure to select "I am a Parent Borrower"

    At this point, if you wish, you have the ability to decline your loans by clicking on "Decline a loan award." NOTE: Reducing the loan award or declining the award could cause your classes to be dropped if you do not have sufficient scholarships, grants and/or personal funds to cover all your tuition and fee charges and your on campus room and board charges, if applicable.

  2. Select Complete a loan award and then choose an award. You will be directed to your personalized list of loans. Click on "Complete" to select the loan amount you are finalizing.
  3. Update your personal information. If you are a returning student and have already received a Stafford Loan from TWU, your information should already be available.
  4. Review or enter reference information, including the addresses and telephone numbers of two references.
  5. Select your lender from the drop-down menu. A list of TWU's preferred lenders is provided for you. Lenders that accept electronic signatures are designated with an asterisk. If you have a prior Stafford Loan through TG, your most current lender should already be available.
  6. Review your loan award information. (Click Back at the bottom of the screen to make changes.) Click Submit to complete the loan process. Once your loan award has been submitted, you will receive online confirmation that your loan is guaranteed for the previously agreed amount.
  7. Print the MPN for a guaranteed loan or have TG print and mail an MPN to you. You may click E-Sign to sign an MPN for lender's that accept electronic signatures.
  8. Click close.
  9. Sign, date, and mail one copy of your printed MPN to your lender. Your lender will not release funds for your loan until they have received the signed MPN from you. (NOTE: Skip this step if you E-Signed)
  10. Entrance counseling: All first-time borrowers at TWU must complete online Entrance Loan / Debt Management Couseling.
