Degree you are earning: EOE Honor Graduate, December 2010

What do you want to do with your degree? Promote a HOT product or candidate!

If you have free-time, how do you like to spend it? I enjoy family life and traveling, cooking, tennis, music events, live theatre, and I am designing a pretty big mosaic on my own.

Why did you want to be an EOE Officer? †I am happy to be a representative for our organization and help promote it . Also, I hope to encourage distance education students to participate in Ďtheirí organization. I hope we can extend EOE to other schools soon.

What advice do you have for distance learners? Get involved in Epsilon Omega Epsilon, keep an organized calendar of school, work and family activities, and finally, check into your classes everyday Ė even 2 or 3 times each day because that is the only way you communicate with your professors and classmates, and things happen that can change assignments/test dates, alot.

In what ways do you stay connected to TWU being a distance learner? Discussion boards help to get to know each other, and I did take classes on campus when available. Epsilon Omega Epsilon gave me new people to meet that were not in my classes. I also went to the TWU gym and pool, art events and studied at the library sometimes.

What†else you would like us to know about yourself? I have really been blessed to get the education I did at TWU. I appreciated all my professors, and I really enjoyed the discussions we had. We have so much to learn and appreciate from each other!

Degree you are earning:† MLS

Major:† Library Science

What do you want to do with your degree?† I hope to work with a special library collection, rare books, or the public library.

If you have free-time, how do you like to spend it?† Iím a musician and an avid reader.† I get a lot of inspiration from favorite books.† I have also started gardening and am looking forward to some fresh veggies!

Why did you want to be an EOE Officer?† I want to be involved as much as possible in any effort to reach out and support fellow distance learners.

What advice do you have for distance learners?† I have found it helpful to get into a routine which allows me to manage my time better and not put things off.† Also, get involved with any organizations available to you, which will also look good on your resume!

In what ways do you stay connected to TWU being a distance learner?† I am also an officer in the graduate student organization for my major, which has been a beneficial outreach tool.

What else you would like us to know about yourself?† Iím happy to be involved with Epsilon Omega Epsilon and look forward to meeting fellow distance learners!

Jeana Elizondo, Secretary

Town where you live:† Houston

Degree you are earning: Master of Library Science

Major: Library Science and Information Studies (focusing on Public Libraries)

What do you want to do with your degree? I really want to work with young teens and develop (non-boring) literacy programs that get them into and involved with the library!

If you have free-time, how do you like to spend it? I love reading (of course!), singing, writing, listening to and playing music, Facebooking, watching TV and movies, dancing and being active outdoors, but only when it isnít hot.

Why did you want to be an EOE Officer? I love taking an active role in the organizations that I am a part of.† If you just stand by the sidelines, how can you make a difference or impact?† By being involved as an officer, I know I can have the ability to affect change!† I also know what it is like to want to have someone listen to my suggestions, so I wanted to take the role of an officer that listens to the members of the group.

What advice do you have for distance learners? Make a schedule and stick with it!† Itís easy to forget about a class when you donít have to physically attend it; when this happens deadlines sneak up and stress increases.† Figure out what has to be done and when, put it on a calendar and place it somewhere you can see it.† I found that using one calendar for everything (school, personal and business) helps to keep me on track and (relatively) stress-free.† Also, setting aside specific†days/times that you devote to schoolwork is always helpful!

In what ways do you stay connected to TWU being a distance learner? Checking news on the website and being involved in organizations related to my major are two quick and easy ways to stay on top of what is happening around campus!

What†else you would like us to know about yourself? Those are just the basics Ė there is so much more to know!
