Job Title: Selling Service Center Manager (Corpus Christi, TX) - YRC Freight

JOB SUMMARY
Coordinate transportation and handling of shipments within geographic subdivision by directing activities of branch office. Actively pursue qualified business opportunities utilizing proven sales techniques. Works to attain revenue and profit goals in assigned territory through the development and maintenance of long term business to business relationships.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Direct and coordinate workers engaged in loading, unloading, recording, arranging, routing, and delivering incoming and outgoing freight shipments. Plan pickup and delivery schedules for truck drivers. Coordinate activities of operations to obtain optimum use of equipment, facilities, and personnel. May direct activities through subordinate managerial personnel.
- Actively pursue and qualify valued business opportunities. Demonstrate an understanding of the prospects' perspective and frame of reference and document their needs and requirements. Be able to discuss prospect's major products, services and processes. Understand the "power" relationships in an organization and use the information to target decision-makers. Implement successful selling strategies/techniques. Build persuasive arguments to convince other to take action.
- Manage new and established account development for continued revenue and profit growth. Influence the client's transportation strategy using market and competitor information. Define and propose specific approaches to meet and exceed consumer needs. Consistently develop plans for sales opportunities for best clients/targets.
- Present recommendations in a manner that gains acceptance and agreement. Demonstrate flexibility in achieving mutually agreeable win/win solutions. Identify situations requiring effective negotiation and maintain positive client relationships throughout any issue resolution process.
- Hire terminal personnel or order workers from union dispatch office. Interview, select, train and assign new personnel. Enforce compliance of operations personnel with administrative policies, procedures, safety rules, and governmental regulations. Maintain effective employee and labor relations.
- Review and analyze expenditure, financial, and operations reports to determine requirements for increasing profits and improving processes. Prepare recommendations on findings for regional management evaluation. Prepare terminal budget and monitor monthly variance. Approve requisitions for equipment, materials, and supplies within limits of terminal budget.
- Extensive knowledge and effective use of the local union contract.
Qualifications:
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in business, logistics or related field or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
- Previous management and/or supervisory experience.
- Previous sales experience.
- Demonstrated team building and leadership skills with the ability to work well with others and effectively lead people.
- Decision-making ability with excellent customer focus and demonstrated attention to detail with proven track record for delivering results.
- Effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability and desire to work in a fast-paced/high volume environment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 3 or more years successful operations and/or sales experience
- Knowledge of company policy, procedures and applicable collective bargaining agreements
