The Connection, December 2005

This is it, the semester is almost over. Have a wonderful, safe holiday and congratulations to all our December graduates! To our returning students, have a great spring semester. Look for the next addition of The Connection in February. If you have specific questions or issues you would like to see addressed in this newsletter, please e-mail them to DL@mail.twu.edu.

You are getting this newsletter because you are enrolled in at least one course that has a televideo or internet component. We call these types of courses distance learning courses. If you feel that you have received this newsletter in error please let me know by contacting me at DL@mail.twu.edu.  

Winter Weather Update

Due to canceled classes yesterday, December 8, the TWU Homepage advises the following: “Some academic departments may post rescheduling information on their departmental Web sites. Please contact your academic department for more information” (www.twu.edu).

Important Dates

Mark your calendars! The following dates are important and may affect you:

  • December 10 - Finals begin
  • December 15 - Last day of final exams
  • December 17 - Commencement – Denton
  • December 18 - Commencement – Houston
  • January 2 - University reopens, 8 a.m.
  • January 13 - Last day to register, add a class without late fee
      • Last day to pay and hold schedule for regular registration.
      • Last day to withdraw and receive full refund
      • Payment deadline: 4 p.m.; Schedules are deleted if payment has not been received.
  • January 16 - Martin Luther King Day – Holiday; no classes
  • January 17 - First Day of spring classes; Late Registration begins
  • January 20 - Last day of Late Registration
  • February 1 - Last day to apply for May graduation
      • Last day to drop a class and received a refund

New Bold Chat

We have upgraded our chat feature. Bold Chat is our chat option that allows you to chat with someone in the Distance Learning Office in real time. You can access the chat from the Distance Learning homepage, or the section for prospective or current students. The log in button will tell you if someone is available to chat. The chat feature is usually available from about 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Feel free to chat with us  anytime you have a question about dropping, registering for classes, or about one of our degrees. 

Spring 2006 Registration

Do not forget to get advised before you register for classes! You have to have an advising code in order to register.


Library Highlights

Start the new semester by registering or updating your Library account.  A secure Registration Form is available at: https://www.twu.edu/library/dl/dlservices_form.htm

Your Portal user name and password is the key into the library databases. View collections from school, home, office or work.

If you are using your TexShare card and need a new one for the spring, please complete the registration form.

Your Fall Semester card expires on January 15, 2006.
