What does the Office of Institutional Development do?

Our job is to develop support for Texas Woman’s University (TWU), its people and its programs. Because TWU is a state assisted (rather than a state supported) institution, the primary way in which we accomplish this mission is by garnering non-government financial support from a variety of areas.

Gift support from alumni, faculty, staff, corporations, foundations, friends and supporters of TWU provide critically needed funding to literally every area of the institution. The trained staff at the Office of Institutional Development not only solicits these charitable donations, but also performs the gift receipting for income tax purposes and stewardship duties for donor needs.

Ways to Give

Annual Giving

Every year many of our faculty and staff family give generously to support their departments and/or student scholarships at TWU. Certain prominent organizations, corporations and individuals also give a minimum of $1,000 annually to become members of the Chancellor’s Circle, which provides funding for TWU leadership to use in addressing the institution’s areas of greatest need. Gifts to both Chancellor's Circle and the Chancellor's Excellence Fund support educational opportunities for our students such as travel abroad, research opportunities and once-in-a-lifetime performance possibilities along with professional development for our faculty and staff. Lead the Way…That Others May Follow is an annual opportunity for TWU Alumni to designate their scholarship gifts to deserving students in each department and academic unit within the university.

Corporate Giving

Many leading national, regional and local businesses provide financial support to TWU.  Because TWU boasts a broad range of research and academic programs, as well as one of the most diverse university student bodies in Texas, there are excellent opportunities for very beneficial corporate involvement. Another important aspect of corporate support for TWU comes through Corporate Matching Gift Programs that help encourage and support other gifts to the institution.

Planned Giving

For alumni, faculty, staff, friends and supporters of TWU and the Texas Woman’s University Foundation, there are many estate and tax planning tools available to help provide significant, long-lasting support for this great institution and our students. The Office of Institutional Development is experienced in helping our donors with all aspects of gift planning.  For more information please call 940-898- 3878 or visit TWU Foundation.

Foundation Giving

TWU enjoys solid support from many philanthropic private, public and corporate foundations. These organizations are solicited through a variety of means including grant applications for support of specific programs, research or scholarships.

Major Gifts/Capital Campaign Giving

Working with the University Chancellor and President, the TWU Office of Institutional Development is responsible for overseeing the process of acquisition, implementation and stewardship of all major gifts to TWU. All capital campaigns are created and executed through the Office of Institutional Development.

We always welcome every opportunity to meet those who support Texas Woman’s University and our students. Please contact the TWU Office of Institutional Development if you have questions or if we can be of service in any way.

Does Your Gift Make a Difference?

YES! Every gift—no matter what the size—makes a difference! The gifts from thousands of alumni and friends quickly add up. The percentage of donors who give is also important.
