Overview:

Year three of the project will add 35 faculty members. Faculty will receive training on the QM Rubric and be eligible to become MOL certified reviewers. This phase of the project will run from September 2008 – August 2009. Faculty will redesign one course to meet all standards found in the QM rubric. Participants will also review another course, according to the QM review process.

Target Audience:

Faculty (full/part time, visiting) serving as instructors of record in distance education courses. Full time faculty currently teaching distance courses will be given preference over other appointments.

Participants:

Limited to 35 participants

Participant Requirements:

Complete Application with appropriate signatures.

  • Complete “Applying the QM Rubric” training.
  • Insert overview materials (participant expectations, course routines, contact mechanisms, etc.) into distance education course.
  • Align distance education course to QM standards. (Note: major modification to course content is not necessarily an outcome of the QM project. Most of the modification is done through clearly stated expectations and requirements.)
  • Minimum modification criteria (Year 3)
    • Existing course to be redesigned to address all review elements found in the rubric (40 total), essential for certification by MOL.
    • This will generate 80/80 points necessary for meeting the expectations of the QM review process.
  • Meet periodically with others in the project (face-to-face, online, and/or videoconference) and staff from Lifelong Learning.
  • Collaborate and support other project participants.
  • Review a minimum of one other course.
  • Provide data, as requested by Lifelong Learning.

Program Components:

  • Applying the QM Rubric to your Course will be delivered during Fall 2008 and Spring 2009.
  • Supplemental funding ($400) will be released after alignment of distance course to QM standards, per review by Instructional Designer.
