Quality Matters Pilot Project

Year three of the project will add 35 faculty members. Faculty will receive training on the QM Rubric and be eligible to become MOL certified reviewers. This phase of the project will run from September 2008 – August 2009. Faculty will redesign one course to meet all standards found in the QM rubric. Participants will also review another course, according to the QM review process.

Online Course Development Program

This program helps faculty members new to distance education to design their first TWU distance education course. Participants will complete the online course to get started in the design of their course. Participants will work in conjunction with the instructional designer assigned to their college to complete the overview elements for their course during the summer and work with the designer to upload content and activities into their course during the academic year.

Distance Education Innovation Institute

The Distance Education Innovation Institute is designed to support distance educators to apply and research Web 2.0 technologies in distance education courses. The Institute will provide instruction and support in the use of Web 2.0 technologies, allow exploration of Web 2.0 technologies, and encourage increased communication and collaboration among distance educators. Participants submit a mini-proposal describing a planned research study on the impact of Web 2.0 technologies into one or more distance courses. Participants will spend 20 hours during the week of July 28 – August 1, 2008 on the TWU Denton campus working with the TWU Instructional Design team. Participants will have the fall 2008 and spring 2009 semesters to complete data collection on the study. There is a required mid-point review due no later than February 2, 2009.
