I have not received my Pioneer Card (student ID) yet.

If you do not receive a Pioneer Card, please contact ID Card Services at (940) 898-3565.

Please be aware that all students pay the $15 Student Identification Card Fee every semester. This does not mean you are issued a new ID each semester. You are issued a card your first semester. The fee pays for the student ID computer system.

I think I've been charged the wrong fees on my bill. How can I check?

All fees are subject to change at any time by action of the Board of Regents or of the Texas Legislature.

The overall costs of distance education courses are similar to costs incurred in traditional courses. The tuition and fee rates are the same. However, two additional fees are assessed for courses taught online or via televideo:

  • The first is a standard fee of $12/credit hour that is charged to all distance learners.
  • The second is a distance education fee that is determined and charged by the academic department.
  • The maximum you can be charged for both fees combined is $300/course.

Distance courses are those in which at least 50% of the content is delivered via electronic means.  The primary use of distance fee revenue is for academic units as they create and maintain distance learning initiatives.  Fees support a variety of expenses related to the delivery of the course, including university-wide support and technology costs as well as costs specific to the course (e.g. consumable supplies, equipment, software).

For those students who are enrolled in only distance education courses:

  • The Student Union and Medical Services fees are waived. Those students are not eligible for these services.
  • To be eligible for Medical Services, students must enroll in a minimum of a one hour face-to-face class.
  • To be eligible for the Student Insurance, undergraduate students must enroll in a minimum of six hours, three of which must be face-to-face. Graduate students must enroll in at least three credit hours which must be face-to-face.
  • Even if the course has a limited number of face-to-face meetings, if the majority of the coursework is online, it will be listed as an Internet or televideo class. Pay close attention to how the class is described in the schedule.

For an explanation of additional fees, please visit the Bursar's Office website at:

What are my options for parking if I need to come to campus and what are the policies?

The Department of Public Safety wants to remind you that all students who park on campus during the week must have a TWU parking decal. Parking decals are enforced Monday through Friday 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.  Monday through Friday 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. students may parking in gray, black, blue, or auburn curbs with a valid parking permit. Handicapped restrictions are enforced at all times.

In order to accommodate those students who are taking only distance education courses, DPS has agreed to issue a complimentary, one-time (once a semester) temporary pass upon request.  So if you are taking all of your classes at a distance and do not have a parking permit, drop by the DPS Office on your next trip to campus (click here for a campus map).  DPS staff will check your name from a list provided by Lifelong Learning and ask to see a photo ID before issuing the pass.  Remember that this is a one-time (once a semester) complimentary pass for those students who are enrolled in distance education classes only.

If you have further questions about this policy, please contact the TWU DPS at (940) 898-2911.

How do I drop an online course?

To drop an online or televideo course, you must contact the academic department that is offering the course you wish to drop. A staff member in that department will fill out the proper paper work for you and send it to the Registrar's Office for the drop to be processed. You do not have to come to campus to drop any of your courses.

The Drop/Add fee is $5.00. Please see the TWU refund policy for refund amount. The last day to drop a course is listed in the Academic Calendar for each term.

How do I withdrawal from all my courses?

A student who finds it necessary to withdraw from all credit classes must formally withdraw from the University through the Office of Student Life at:

Office of Student Life
Texas Woman's University
P.O. Box 425379
Denton, TX 76204-5379
Phone: 940/898-3601
Fax: 940/898-3629
E-Mail: mailto:stulife@twu.edu

The effective date of withdrawal is the day upon which the student submits the completed Request for Withdrawal Form, and it is approved by the Office of Student Life. Withdrawals are not permitted during the week preceding the first day of final examinations for either the long sessions or summer terms.

A student who withdraws on or up to the official day of census will have no record of coursework on the transcript. A student who withdraws after the day of census and before the last day to drop without penalty will receive a grade of "W." After the last date of withdraw without penalty, the grade of "WF" is assigned, unless the student withdraws for medical reasons or a "W" is recommended by the instructor.

Please see the TWU refund policy for amount of refund. The last day to withdraw from the University is listed in the Academic Calendar for each term.
