Jordan Fuchs (Assistant Professor) makes dances that extend the expressive possibilities of live performance through explorations of form and formlessness, physical relationships at close-quarters and experiments in staging and technology. Hailed by Deborah Jowitt of the Village Voice as "Redefining chaos," Fuchs' choreography has been commissioned by Danspace Project (2003, 2005 and 2008) Kristina Isabelle, and Perpetual Motion, supported by the New York State Music Fund, and presented at venues in New York City, including Dance Theater Workshop, Movement Research at Judson Church, Queens Theatre in the Park, Dancenow/NYC, Chashama, the Flea and nationally at venues in San Diego, San Francisco, Seattle, Houston, Dallas, Austin, Columbus, and Providence. Fuchs has curated evenings of improvisational dance at the Flea and in 2009 initiated the Texas Dance Improvisation Festival. He has had the pleasure of performing with artists, including K.J. Holmes, Kirstie Simson, Leslie Scates, Sarah Gamblin, Mark Dendy, Luka Kito/Megan Boyd, Rebecca Lazier, Scott Wells, Lizz Roman, Joanne Nerenberg, and Potrezebie, and also had the pleasure of studying with Ellie Klopp, Brian Kloppenberg, Jaclynn Villamil, Mestre Marcelo Pereira, Sara Shelton Mann and Contraband.
