National Network of Libraries of Medicine: South Central Region – Express Outreach Award

Shelly Burns and Regina Michael Campbell received an Express Outreach Award from the National Network of Libraries of Medicine (NNLM) to fund a collaborative service learning project involving Master’s level Occupational Therapy (MOT) students and clients at the TWU Stroke Center. The MOT students will develop a consumer-centered health literacy toolkit to provide appropriate, quality health information to clients at the Stroke Center.  The project will investigate novel ideas of delivering health information to the clients within the library setting.

Texas Woman’s University, Research Enhanced Program

Dr. Wang received a Research Enhancement Program (REP) grant from TWU to fund her study of gait in individuals with diabetic foot neuropathy. This REP-funded study will investigate and develop the methodology for a future study to compare walking patterns in patients with open diabetic foot ulcers to patients with healed foot ulcers or those with diabetic neuropathy with no history of foot ulcers. Dr. Wang will utilize motion analysis and force plate technology in the newly developed Motion Analysis Lab at the TWU Institute of Health Sciences in Dallas to complete her study.
