ExCET Eligibility
Requirements
To take a TExES/ExCET examination, students must receive a barcode issued by the Student Support Center in the College of Professional Education. The following eligibility requirements apply to students seeking a barcode for the Generalist EC-4, Generalist 4-8, English Language Arts and Reading 4-8, PPR EC-4, PPR 4-8, PPR 8-12 and PPR EC-12 examinations. TWU will approve your request for a barcode for the Generalist EC-4, Generalist 4-8 exam or English, Language Arts and Reading IF
You have been admitted to the Texas Woman's University undergraduate Teacher Certification Program OR have met the requirements to receive an official post-baccalaureate certification (deficiency) plan AND
You have achieved a score of 80 or above on the corresponding Content Area Exam.
Pedagogy and Professional Responsibilities (PPR)
TWU will approve your request for a barcode for the PPR EC-4, PPR 4-8, PPR 8-12 or PPR EC-12 examinations IF
You have been admitted to the Texas Woman's University undergraduate Teacher Certification Program OR have met the requirements to receive an official post-baccalaureate certification (deficiency) plan, AND
You have achieved a score of 80 or above on the corresponding Professional Development /PPR qualifying exam.
Requirements
- TWU will issue a barcode for only one examination per test administration date.
- Students who are unsuccessful on a TExES/ExCET examination must re-take and pass that examination before they can attempt an additional examination.

The Completer Rule:TWU will issue a barcode for any required TExES/ExCET examination for individuals who have successfully completed their TWU teacher preparation program (all required coursework AND all required teaching experience on their undergraduate degree plans or post-graduate certification/deficiency plans).

* These requirements are consistent with current State Board of Educator (SBEC) Certification rules. Modifications in SBEC rules may necessitate changes in TWU TExES/ExCET eligibility requirements. |
