GLISA Overview

GLISA is the Graduate Library and Information Studies Association, the student chapter of the American Library Association at the School of Library and Information Studies at Texas Woman's University. GLISA's purpose is to promote the social, cultural, intellectual, and professional growth of its members and to support the School of Library and Information Studies. It also facilitates and encourages participation in the American Library Association.

The easiest way to participate is via GLISA's Blackboard site. Whether you live in Denton, Houston, Pennsylvania, or Malaysia this is the place where GLISA members share ideas, questions, and concerns with other SLIS students and faculty. To join the Blackboard forum, please see our membership application. If you have any questions, you can contact us at glisaala@yahoo.com.

GLISA facilitates and encourages participation in the American Library Association and sponsors the annual GLISA Student Award to ALA, enabling a TWU SLIS student to attend and participate in the ALA Annual Conference.

Our officers are:

  • President: Taylor Lincecum
  • VP of Projects: Amy Castillo
  • VP of Publicity: Sonnet Brown
  • Secretary: Bonnie Fitzpatrick
  • Treasurer/Membership Coordinator: Kelly Brouillard
