Gain admission to Texas Woman's University. |
2. |
Meet with an academic advisor (Academic Advising Center - HDB 202). |
3. |
Declare a major in Family and Consumer Sciences as a student seeking Teacher Certification (Department of Family Sciences - HDB 115). |
4. |
Request an academic advisor in Family and Consumer Sciences Teacher Certification (Department of Family Sciences - HDB 115). |
5. |
Develop with your advisor a degree / certification plan. |
6. |
Complete Teacher Education program TASP and GPA requirements (TASP Reading 260, Math 240, Writing 240 and GPA 2.75 or above). Contact the Student Support Center for a full description of requirements in Stoddard Hall - Room 218. |

Apply for admission to the Teacher Education Program (Stoddard Hall 218). |
8. |
Achieve qualifying scores of 80 or above on all required TExES/ExCET qualifying tests. A qualifying score of 80 and above is required for admission to student teaching. |
9. |
Apply for student teaching (Stoddard Hall 218). |
10. |

11. |
Pass all required TExES/ExCET examinations. |
12. |
Apply for University graduation (Office of the Registrar - ADM 128). |
13. |
Apply for Texas Teacher Certification (Student Support Center - Stoddard Hall 218).
The State Board for Education Certification (SBEC) cannot issue your certification unless you apply for it.
