Child Welfare Conference
October 25, 2013 – Denton Campus
Presented by TWU and UNT.
Conference Overview: “Strengthening Children and Family Connections By Building Strong Communities of Hope”
This conference focuses on building communities of hope within the child welfare arena. Speakers include: William Bell, President and CEO of Casey Family, Audrey Deckinga, Assistant Commissioner with the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services, and more. A panel of children and families will provide personal and candid information regarding their experiences within the child welfare continuum of services. Other training presentations will focus on addiction, treatment and intervention; new approaches to parenting; and managing compassion fatigue.
This program is open, child protective services staff, foster/adoptive parents, faculty/staff educators & student, court appointed child advocates, juvenile/adult probation officers, mental health professionals and community child advocates, and offers 6 contact hours for continuing education (.6 CEU, 6 LPC, 6MFT).
Registration begins August 2013.

The TWU Office of Academic Outreach partners with the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board and the North Texas Regional P-16 Council to offer this symposium to high school counselors.
