A TWU Student ID is required to use the lab. ALL users are required to sign the log book.

The TWU School of the Arts has assembled a media lab with specialty equipment and software specific to the needs of School of the Arts students.

Equipment stations available for use:

  • Mac: Audio/Video Compose/Edit: a Mac computer with software for composing and editing audio and video.
  • PC: Audio/Video Compose/Edit: a PC computer with software for composing and editing audio and video.
  • PC: Scan/Print: a PC computer with software for scanning and printing large size documents.

Scan negatives on the Nikon Coolscan 5000/9000
Convert performances from VHS to DVD
Scan slides with a Nikon Batch Scanner
Create a poster for a performance or production with Adobe Suite and the HP Plotter
Compose music in Finale and Sibelius on either of two (2) keyboard stations
Record music for a personal project or for class utilizing the turntable and CD burner
Make copies of performances or add a soundtrack with the two (2) mixers

If you are new to the SOA Media Lab, a lab monitor will assist you by explaining the various equipment and the specific function of each work station.

In order to use the SOA Media lab, follow the steps outlined below. If you have any questions, please email soamedialab@twu.edu for additional information or assistance.

View the SOA Media Lab on-line appointment calendars to locate dates/times available, as follows:

  1. Log into your Outlook or Outlook Web Access Email using your Portal log-in;
  2. Select "Public Folders" and/or "All Public Folders" at the bottom left corner of the screen;
  3. Scroll down to the "School of the Arts" folder;
  4. Click on the plus sign "+" next to the folder;
  5. Select the on-line calendar for the specific computer station you wish to use;
  6. Locate an available date and time in accordance with the lab hours of operation;
  7. Send email to soamedialab@twu.edu to request an appointment for a specific work station, and a specified date and time. Please include your full name and your TWU student ID number.

An SOA Media Lab Monitor will verify that the requested date/time is available; then enter your name into the on-line calendar and send a confirmation email to you to confirm your requested appointment time; or, will advise by reply email that the time and date you requested is not available, whereupon you should return to the on-line calendar to select a different date and/or time.

Please check the on-line calendar again after you receive your confirmation email to verify that your time has been reserved as requested. Your name will appear on the on-line calendar to indicate that your date/time has been reserved.

PLEASE SHOW UP FOR YOUR APPOINTMENT! If you cannot keep your scheduled appointment, please contact the lab via email at soamedialab@twu.edu, in advance, to cancel your appointment so that others may have an opportunity to use the lab during the time slot you are vacating.

The Fall 2008 hours of operation are:

Monday: 9:am-3:30pm
Tuesday: 8:am-9:30am; 1:pm-4:30pm
Wednesday: 9:30am-5:30pm
Thursday: 9:am-2:pm
Friday: 8:30:am-12:pm
