Public Transportation

DCTA (Denton County Transportation Authority)

When it comes to public transportation to and from TWU, DCTA is the place to start!  For an overview of how to use the DCTA public transportation system, please see our DCTA powerpoint.

DCTA offers the following options for traveling to and around Denton:

  • Connect Bus

The DCTA Connect is the Denton City Bus that operates Monday through Saturday (no buses on Sunday), making 186 stops throughout the city. 

To get to campus from the downtown Denton A-train station, ride DCTA Connect bus routes 4, 5, or 6!

  • A-train

Need to catch a ride after your night class? Route 4 - 8:58PM will get passengers to the DDTC to catch the 9:15 southbound train which goes all the way to Trinity Mills for a DART transfer!!!!

The A-train will travel between Dallas and Denton.  Here is a map of the train stations and an updated schedule.

The following are currently available in SU 209:

DCTA Local Passes 

  • For use on bus and train in Denton County only
  • Monthly (only for the calendar month)  -  $90
  • 10-Day Bundle  -  $40

DCTA Regional Passes 

  • For use on DCTA buses and train, including DART, TRE, & The T
  • Monthly (only for the calendar month)  -  $160
  • Monthly Disabled/Senior (65+) w/valid ID - $40
  • 10-Day Bundle  -  $70

Monthly Passes

  • Valid for designated calendar month only
  • Available for purchase approximately 1 week prior to the 1st day of the month.
  • Both Local (Denton County only) and Regional (all DFW public transit, including DART, TRE, and the T) are available for purchase.

10-Day Pass Bundle

  • Contains (10) day passes
  • Each day pass is punched when the rider boards the bus for the first portion of their trip. Rider can continue to ride unlimited for the remainder of the day. Passes are only good for the date that they are activated/punched.
  • Both Local (Denton County only) and Regional (all DFW public transit, including DART, TRE, and the T) are available for purchase.

Reduced Passes

  • Available to seniors (65+), disabled, Medicare card holders and students (18 & under, w/ valid student ID).
  • Both Local (Denton County only) and Regional (all DFW public transit, including DART, TRE, and the T) are available for purchase.
