Department Requirements- Deadline for Summer 2010 is April 1, 2010.  

Applicants seeking admission into the Education of the Deaf Graduate Program should have the following:

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited University
  • A GPA of 3.0 or better in the last 60 hours of their undergraduate work.
  • Access to a computer and the internet.
  • Off-Campus/Online Students must have access to a school for children who are D/HH.

* Statements should be not more than 2 pages, typed, double-spaced, written in a professional manner.  Address the following areas of concern:

  • your qualifications for graduate school
  • 3 reasons for pursuing a graduate degree in deaf education
  • what you hope to achieve with a graduate degree in deaf education
  • 3 major needs/issues in deaf education (provide references)
  • all references should be cited in APA format 

4.     2 professional letters of recommendation (Send to: Communication Sciences and Disorders Department)

* Letters should address applicant's academic strengths, and characteristics that would make the individual an effective teacher.

* References who can attest to your academic abilities, and strength as a candidate for graduate school are strongly encouraged.

* For students seeking teacher certification at Texas Woman's University the following test scores are required:  

  • THEA- (Must meet these minimum scores or higher) Reading 260, Writing 240, Math 240 OR
  • Accuplacer- (Must meet these minimum scores or higher) Reading 80, Writing 82, Math 65, Essay 6 AND
  • SAT- 500 or higher OR
  • ACT- 19 or higher

*GRE scores will be required for admission starting Summer 2010.
