The Bachelor of Science degree in Communication Sciences offers two tracks:
  • Deaf Education: Courses in this track prepare students to apply to graduate programs in Education of the Deaf.
  • Speech-Language Pathology: Courses in this track prepare students to apply to graduate programs in Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology.

Admission Requirements

Deaf Education Emphasis

Speech-Language Pathology Emphasis

Must have completed 30 semester hours

Must have completed 30 semester hours, with prerequisite coursework in biology, physics or chemistry, and statistics 

Must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 or a GPA of at least 3.0 over the last 30 semester hours of coursework

Must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25 or a GPA of at least 3.25 over the last 30 semester hours of coursework

 Current TWU Student Retention Requirements

  • Students must maintain an overall GPA of 3.0 once admitted to the program
  • No more than two grades of C will apply toward the major
  • No credit will be awarded toward the major for a grade of D or F
  • A class may be repeated one (1) time
  • Students must pass a Comprehensive Exam in their last semester.
