Workshop Overview
Dr. Cheryl Lanktree, Ph.D., Executive Director of the Miller Children’s Hospital Abuse and Violence Intervention Center (MCAVIC) and Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Southern California will present an overview of complex trauma in children and adolescents. She will specifically focus on innovations in assessment, treatment and intervention, as well as the ethical issues we face as practitioners.

Continuing Education Credit
Participants will receive 3 Contact Hours/.3 CEU (all ethics hours) for the full completion of this workshop. This workshop has been approved for Continuing Nursing Education credits.

Keynote Speaker - Dr. Cheryl Lanktree
Dr. Cheryl Lanktree, is a national expert in a field of complex trauma in children and adolescents. She will present an overview of the complex trauma in children and adolescents as well as focusing on assessment and treatment. During her 21 years of clinical experience, she has been the Clinical Director of Stuart House, Santa Monica, UCLA Medical Center and a licensed psychologist. Currently she serves as the Executive Director of the Miller Children’s Hospital Abuse and Violence Intervention Center, a multidisciplinary outpatient center in Long Beach, California. She provides evaluation and treatment services for children, adolescents traumatized by child abuse and neglect, family, community violence, medical illness and family loss. 

Additionally, Dr. Lanktree has successfully secured grant funding. She is the Project Director and Principal Investigator for the SAMHSA – funded MCAVIC-USC Child and Adolescent Trauma program. Dr. Lanktree has conducted and presented workshops worldwide including Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Russia and Scotland as well as throughout the United States. She continues to publish her research findings re: the assessment and treatment of child trauma. Currently Dr. Lanktree is the Clinical Associate Professor of Psychiatry, Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the University of Southern California, Los Angeles. 

Dr. Lanktree has extensive community involvement - member of the Board of Directors for the National Children’s Alliance, serves on the Steering Committee for the National Child Traumatic Stress Network and is a member of the Board of Directors for the California Network of Children’s Advocacy Centers.

Registration Fee - Enrollment is Limited!
The early bird registration fee is $45. After April 7, 2009 the fee will increase to $55. There is a $15 registration fee for full-time undergraduate and graduate students. After April 7, 2009, the fee will increase to $25. Be prepared to show proof of full-time registration status at registration check-in.

Refunds will not be issued once the event begins. The Office of Lifelong Learning reserves the right to cancel this event if sufficient enrollment is not met. In doing so, Texas Woman's University's liability is limited to the registration fee.
