Optimal Resume is a comprehensive online suite of career tools to assist you with building a resume, writing a cover letter, practicing interviewing skills, and even creating a portfolio or website. Please see below for a quick review of the tools available to you:
RESUME BUILDER - takes you step by step through your resume giving you examples and instructions to help create your best document.
COVER LETTER BUILDER - takes you step-by-step through the professional letter writing process, whether you are sending a thank you letter after an interview or creating a cover letter to accompany your resume.
PORTFOLIO BUILDER - displays your portfolio in an attractive online format, supportING several document formats with a capacity to hold 50 megabytes of information.
INTERVIEW PREP - allows you to practice your skills in true to life interview situations. You will be able to test your responses to several different interview situations and share your recorded responses with your Career Consultant or others for review.
WEBSITE BUILDER - creates a customized website that includes a variety of professional documents, as well as links to your social networking profiles, like LinkedIn and Twitter.
To get started, please click the link above and follow the steps below:
1. After clicking the link, you will see a welcome screen and below that a section titled “Inside.” Click the box that says “Get Started.”
2. Where you see “Student Users”, please type your TWU email address into the field and click continue.
3. You will be prompted to complete some contact information and accept the terms and conditions of use. When ready, click the green “Create Profile” box.
4. You are ready to use the system!
Within the system, you will find many documents and videos to assist you in navigating the various modules. You can always contact the Career Connections Center or work directly with your Career Consultant if you need assistance. Good luck!
