Two types of assistantships are available:
teaching and research. The availability varies from semester to
semester. The current 9-month stipend for the academic year 2004-2005
is approximately $10,500. Summer employment opportunities are
also available.
The assistantship offer includes
student health
insurance and an out-of-state tuition waiver, but not a full
tuition waiver. All students must pay in-state tuition
regardless of the type of assistantship. This is common at all the
state universities in Texas. As set by the Texas Legislature, state
funds cannot be used to totally remit tuition. The current tuition
and fees for 9 credits is
~$1,350. Thus, the annual tuition will be slightly over $3,000. The
Biomechanics Laboratory will, however, seek every opportunity to provide the
tuition through research projects.
The assistantship
application form is available at the T.W.U.
Graduate School
Assistantship Page.
