Position: Middle Blocker/Outside Hitter

Height: 5-10 ~ Class: Senior

Hometown: Fort Worth, Texas

High School: Castleberry

Previous School: Navarro College

2003: Received the Kitty Magee Award, recognizing dedication…registered the team’s top hitting performances of the season (.682) with 15 kills and no errors against Dallas Baptist on Nov. 4…ranked third on the team in blocks with 0.69 per game…named to the Lone Star Conference Commissioner’s Honor Roll…named to Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities & Colleges.

2002: Saw action in 91 games and recorded 111 kills and 111 digs ... turned in two double-double performances and finished with season-highs of 13 kills vs. Wayland Baptist on Sept. 21 and 15 digs vs. Southeastern Okla. on Oct. 10...led the team in blocking during eight matches ... third on the team with 53 block assists.

PRIOR TO TWU: Lettered her freshman year at Navarro College and helped lead the team to a 25-16 record in 2001 ... recorded 149 kills, 194 blocks, 22 service aces and 541 digs last season.

HIGH SCHOOL: 2001 graduate of Castleberry High School where she lettered in volleyball, basketball, softball and track ... voted Newcomer of the Year as a freshman and followed that honor up by being named First Team All-District in 1999 and 2000...named All-State honorable mention in 2000 and was an Academic All-District selection all four years of high school...regional qualifier in the long, triple and high jump events in track and earned All-District first team honors in softball in 2000 and 2001...also an All-District performer on the Castleberry basketball team...was a member of the National Honor Society and won numerous academic awards, including the Presidential Scholar Award, UIL Scholar award and the United States Army Reserve National Scholar/Athlete Award.

PERSONAL: Melanie Rishel was born on Sept. 9, 1982 and is the daughter of Sandra Pabalate…a kinesiology major.
