WEAVER
EARNS CONFERENCE DEFENSIVE PLAYER-OF-THE-WEEK HONORS
DENTON,
TX—Texas
Woman’s
University goalkeeper Sara Weaver (Prosper, TX/
Prosper H.S.) was
named the Lone Star Conference Defensive Player-of-the-Week
for the week of Oct. 20-26 for her play in the Pioneers
two games against No. 18 Central Oklahoma and Southern
Utah. This is Weaver’s first-ever Player-of-the-Week
honor and the first for the TWU soccer program.
Weaver
registered her second shutout of the season and led the Pioneers
to their first-ever win over a nationally ranked opponent
as TWU notched a
1-0 victory at No. 18 Central Oklahoma. She made five saves against the
Bronchos, then had three saves in a scoreless half against Division I Southern
Utah before being pulled at halftime. Weaver leads the team and is ranked
seventh in the conference in goals against average with a 1.75. She has
made 55 saves in 14 games played and owns a 3-6 record with two shutouts.
The
Pioneer soccer teams ends their 2003 campaign against Texas
A&M-Commerce
on Wednesday, Oct. 29. The game starts at 3 p.m. in
Commerce, Texas.
