PIONEERS
FALL TO TEXAS A&M-COMMERCE 2-0 IN SOCCER

TXTexas A&M-Commerce (13-2-2, 3-2-1)
took control of the game in the early going and did not let
Texas Woman's (5-9-1, 0-6-1) in the game, winning
2-0. The Lions recorded 17 shots during the game and held the
Pioneers to just four.

held the ball on the TWU side of the field for much of the
first half, but didn't get a score until
the 31st minute when Erin de Wolfe sent a corner
kick toward the goal and Cory Copeland headed the ball into
the net. The Lions recorded nine shots during the first period,
four on goal, but Sara Weaver (Prosper, TX/ Prosper H.S.) made
four saves for the Pioneers and kept the score 0-1 after one
period. In the second half, Emily Brueggeman extended the Lions
lead to 2-0 when she recorded an unassisted goal in the 62nd minute.
The Pioneers had three shots during the final frame, but all
of the shots went wide of the goal. Weaver finished the game
with six saves and two goals allowed while Texas A&M-Commerce's
goalkeeper, Sarah Fagan, made one save in four shots faced.
Erica
Butler (Burleson, TX/Burleson H.S.) recorded
two shots for the Pioneers while Julie Hosek (Keller, TX/Keller
H.S.) and Misty Blaylock (Plano, TX/ Lutheran Christian
Academy) chipped in with one apiece. The Lions had 14 corner
kicks and 13 fouls while TWU recorded one foul and one corner
kick.
Up
next, the Pioneers host St. Edward's University on Friday,
Nov. 1 at 3 p.m. and finish up their inaugural season against
Angelo State on Sunday, Nov. 3 at 2 p.m. TWU lost to Angelo
State 0-5 in the first game of the season.
