CENTRAL OKLAHOMA HANDS PIONEERS 4-0 LOSS
EDMOND,
OKNo. 9 Central Oklahoma (15-1, 4-0 LSC), dominated
Texas Woman's University (5-8, 0-5 LSC) for the entire game,
allowing the Pioneers just three shots in a 0-4 defeat. The
loss moves TWU into a 0-5 hole in conference play with just
three league games left in the 2002 season.
UCO got
on the board early as Kim Brown scored her first goal of
the game at the 7:02 mark with assists from
Meleia Bacon and Jessica Miller. Five minutes later, Brown
answered again as she gave the Bronchos a 2-0 lead 12 minutes
into the game. The Pioneer defense tightened up for the rest
of the period and did not allow another goal. UCO recorded
14 shots in the first frame while TWU was held to one attempt.
The Pioneer defense still held strong for most of the second
period, but Miller broke through for UCO's third score
of the game at the 75:17 mark. The Bronchos' Valerie Gutierrez
put the game away when she scored at the 81:28 mark, for the
4-0 final.
Melissa
Scott (Denton, TX/Denton H.S.) recorded two
shots, both on goal, while Misty Blaylock (Plano, TX/Lutheran
Christian Academy) turned in the Pioneers only other shot
in the game. Pioneers' goalkeeper Sara Weaver (Prosper,
TX/ Prosper H.S.) recorded eight saves and allowed four
goals in 26 shots faced. Fourteen of Central Oklahoma's 26
shots were on goal. TWU finished with three shots, two team
saves and nine fouls on the afternoon.

next, the Pioneers close out their 2002 regular season by
hosting
four straight home games during the next two weeks.

3 p.m., then hosts Southwestern Oklahoma State on Friday,
