2005: Townsend started all 46 games at third base…broke the school record for doubles in a game with three; had a double in the first, third and fifth innings against Cameron (2/5/05)…three doubles in a game also tied the Lone Star Conference record…notched a home run over the left field fence against Incarnate Word (4/19/05)…led the team in at-bats (141), runs scored (19) and hits (37)… stole 10 bases in 12 attempts…recorded a .951 fielding percentage with 58 putouts, 96 assists and eight errors in 162 chances…named to the LSC South Division All-Academic team…member of squad named one of the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Top Ten Academic Teams for the 2004-05 school year with a team grade point average of 3.416 which was eighth in NCAA Division II.
2004: Denton Record-Chronicle Player of the Week ending April 24...went 2-for-4 against Southeastern Oklahoma in the LSC Tournament semifinal...in the top of the eighth inning, scored the winning run in the 4-2 victory at Tarleton State in TWU’s regular season finale...the prior weekend, she drove in the winning run in the bottom of the eighth for a 5-4 win against Abilene Christian...has improved her hitting throughout the season with a .333 average in the month of April...started the season hot as well with a 2-for-3 performance against Adams State in the Las Vegas Classic, hitting a home run, driving in three RBIs and scoring two runs...selected to the Lone Star Conference Commissioner’s Honor Roll.
2003: Earned 23 starts as a freshman...had five hits and one successful stolen base attempt.
HIGH SCHOOL: Lettered in softball for four years, basketball for three years and volleyball for three years at Jacksonville High School…four-time all-conference player in softball…named Class 5A All-State in 2001 and 2002…tabbed Jacksonville Softball Association MVP as a freshman…two-time Class 5A all-state selection in basketball…tabbed Metro all-conference in 1999, 2001 and 2002…three-time all-Metro Conference selection in volleyball…member of the National Honor Society and National Beta Club…winner of the U.S. Navy Athletic Achievement Award, President’s Education Award and Jacksonville Academic All-Star…Honor graduate who was nominated for the Wendy’s High School Heisman in 2002…also a nominee for the McDonald’s High School All-American…played club softball for the Jacksonville Heat (2000) and Arkansas Thunder (2001-2002)…high school coach was Tanya Ganey.
PERSONAL: A kinesiology major…enjoys reading, shopping with friends and fishing.
