TWU SHORTSTOP FLORES TABBED
CONFERENCE PLAYER OF THE YEAR
Baker Shares LSC Co-Coach of the Year Honors
DENTON,
Tex. – Texas
Woman’s University senior shortstop Teresa
Flores (Corpus Christi, TX) was named the 2004 Lone
Star Conference South Division Player of the Year.
Flores sat atop the conference rankings in
most offensive categories throughout the year. At the end
of the regular season, she was batting a conference-best
.497 and led the LSC in hits (85), runs scored (52), triples
(10) and total bases (152). Flores also led TWU with 51 runs
batted in and 20 doubles. She was also named to the LSC All-Tournament
Team as the team placed second behind Angelo State.
TWU head coach Dianne Baker shared
LSC South Division Coach-of-the-Year honors with Travis Scott
of Angelo State. Baker has compiled a 264-138-2 (.656) record
in her eight seasons at TWU and will lead the Pioneers to
their second NCAA South Central Regional Tournament in three
years.
Junior catcher Stefani
Easter (Troy,
TX) joins Flores on the All-Conference First Team.
Easter is in her first season as the Pioneers’ starter
behind the plate, backing up 2003 NFCA Division II Catcher-of-the-Year
Jami Ingram last season. Easter led the Pioneers with 11
home runs this season and ranked second with 45 RBIs and
12 doubles.
Four Pioneers were named to the All-Lone Star
Conference South Division Second Team: freshman pitcher Lindsy
Russ-Keller (Dickinson, TX), senior third baseman Jennifer
Collins (Forney, TX), senior outfielder Nikki
Boudreaux (Orange, TX) and junior designated player Lauren
Gustartis (Bellaire, TX).
