SOFTBALL SPLITS IN FIRST DAY OF TOURNAMENT ACTION
Pioneers Beat Limestone; Lose to No. 9 Kennesaw State
KENNESAW,
Ga. – The Texas Woman’s University
softball team earned an 8-1 victory over Limestone, before
suffering an 11-1 defeat to host, ninth-ranked Kennesaw
State in the first day of tournament play.

senior Teresa Flores (Corpus Christi, TX) went
three-for-five on the afternoon with a triple against Limestone.
Sophomore pitcher Amanda
Chambless (Collinsville,
TX) improved to 3-0 on the season as she was credited
with the win in that game, striking out five.
“You
could tell we’ve been off the field for 10 days,” said
TWU head softball coach Dianne Baker. “We
started out a little shaky, but then we began to hit the
ball an we outmatched them. In the second game, the Pioneers
beat the Pioneers. We simply did not play well and, after
a few innings, we self-destructed and didn’t get the
job done.”
The
Pioneers will play two more games as part of the Kennesaw
State Tournament on Saturday, facing North Alabama at 8 a.m.
and Mars Hill at noon. TWU returns to Pioneer Field on Wednesday,
February 25 for its home opener with Oklahoma Panhandle State
at 4 p.m.
