TWU SOFTBALL COACH AND PLAYER RECOGNIZED BY NFCA
Baker & Ingram Acknowledged at National Convention

HOUSTON, Tex.– Texas Woman’s University head softball coach Dianne Baker and former catcher Jami Ingram (Richmond, British Columbia) were both honored during last week’s National Fastpitch Coaches Association Convention.

Baker, who is entering her seventh season at TWU and 22nd year of coaching in the college ranks, was recognized for achieving her 700th career victory. Baker has compiled a 724-422-3 (.631) career record, which moves her into fifth place among NCAA Division II active head coaches. She has posted a 224-130-2 (.629) record during her tenure at TWU.

Ingram was named the 2003 NFCA Diamond Catcher of the Year in NCAA Division II. A First Team All-America selection, she finished the 2003 season with a .333 batting average, 53 hits, 13 doubles, as well as 141 putouts and 17 assists defensively. She set four TWU school records: most home runs in a season (14) and career (18) and most RBIs in a season (56) and career (92). Ingram is the first TWU player to win the Diamond Catcher of the Year.

“We are extremely proud of Jami for receiving this prestigious award,” Baker said. “Only three catchers in the entire country are honored in this way. It not only reflects positively on the University, but to her character and ability as an athlete.”
