BAKER SIGNS
SHERMAN PRODUCT TO 2004 SOFTBALL TEAM
DENTON,
TXTexas Woman's University head softball coach
Dianne Baker announced the signing of Amanda Emory to national
letter of intent for the 2003-2004 academic school year.
Emory is a 2003 graduate of Sherman High School where she
lettered in softball for four years.
It
seems that we have been fighting all summer to get Amanda
Emory signed. She originally signed with Texarkana College,
but didn't want to go there and so we worked with the school
and got her transferred to TWU, head coach Dianne Baker
said. Amanda will bring a lot of range to the team.
She can cover shortstop and has the speed and quickness to
get over to second base if needed. Amanda may see a little
action in the outfield, but she definitely has the talent
to be a star for this program.
Emory
earned Honorable Mention All-District honors as a freshman
while also being voted by her coaches as Most Dedicated. She
followed that up by being tabbed Second Team All-District
in 2001 and First Team All-District in 2002 along with being
named All-Texomaland. As a senior, Emory again was named
Honorable Mention All-District, Most Dedicated by
her high school coaches and was a member of the All-Tournament
team in Wylie, Texas. An outstanding student as well, Emory
made the 95-100 Honor Roll for four years and graduated 64th out
of 260 students. She played club softball for the Texoma
Ringors for five years and was coached at Sherman H.S. by
Todd Simpson and Bruce Ewington.
Amanda
is the daughter of
Penny and Steve Emory of Denison, Tex. She plans on pursuing
a Kinesiology major at TWU and enjoys skiing, going to the
movies and spending
time with friends in her spare time.
