FOUR SOFTBALL PLAYERS NAMED TO NFCA ALL-SOUTH CENTRAL REGION TEAM

DENTON, TX—Despite their team not making it to the NCAA Division II South Central Regional Tournament, Texas Woman's University placed four players on the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-South Central Region Team. Seniors Jami Ingram (Richmond, BC/Blinn College) and Sascha Taylor (Mansfield, TX/ Stephen F. Austin) were named to the first team while juniors Dawn England (Graham, TX/Graham H.S.) and Jennifer Collins (Forney, TX/Grayson C.C.) were selected to the second team.

Ingram earned her second straight First Team All-South Central Region selection after leading the Lone Star Conference in homeruns (14) and RBIs (56) in 2003. She now owns Pioneer records for most homeruns and RBIs hit in a season and most homeruns and RBIs hit in a career. Taylor also earned her second straight First Team All-Region honor. She started 45 games in left field and finished with .428 batting average, good enough to place her fifth in the conference and second on the team. Taylor led the team and finished third in the league with 33 stolen bases. Collins finished her first season at TWU by finishing third in the conference and first on the team in batting average with a .445. She also finished tied for second in hits (76), second in RBIs (53) and second in doubles (18) in the LSC, helping her earn Rookie-of-the-Year honors. England finished off 2003 by leading the Pioneers with a 2.21 ERA and a 17-6 mark. She struck out 118 batters and allowed only 48 earned runs on 121 hits in 152 innings of work. England was named Second Team All-LSC and Second Team Verizon Academic All-District VI last week.
