TABBED VERIZON ACADEMIC ALL-DISTRICT VI

TXThe 2003 Verizon Academic
All-District VI Women's Softball Team was announced today
and junior shortstop Teresa Flores (Corpus Christi,
TX/ Miller H.S.) was named to the first team while
junior pitcher Dawn England (Graham, TX/Graham H.S.) was
selected to the second
team. The Academic All-District team is selected by members
of CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America)
and is part of the Verizon Academic All-America program.
All first team honorees advance for consideration to the
Verizon Academic All-America team.
Flores makes her second appearance in the Verizon All-District
VI team. She was a second team selection in 2002. Flores hit
at a .402 clip this season and led the league with nine triples,
which is a new school record. She now owns the TWU career mark
for most triples hit in a career with 18. England is making
her first appearance in the All-District VI team. She finished
off 2003 by leading the Pioneers with a 2.21 ERA and a 17-6
mark. She struck out 118 batters and allowed only 48 earned
runs on 121 hits in 152 innings of work. Both players were
named Academic All-Lone Star Conference in 2002.
