SIX PIONEERS NAMED ALL-LONE STAR CONFERENCE SOUTH DIVISION IN SOFTBALL
Jennifer Collins tabbed Rookie-of- the-Year

RICHARDSON, TX—The Lone Star Conference announced the 2003 All-Conference South Division team and Texas Woman's University placed six players on both squads. Senior Jami Ingram (Richmond, BC/Blinn College), and juniors Jennifer Collins (Forney, TX/Grayson C.C.) and Teresa Flores (Corpus Christi, TX/ Miller H.S.) were selected First Team All-LSC South Division while juniors Dawn England (Graham, TX/Graham H.S.) and Nikki Boudreaux (Orange, TX/ Navarro College) and senior Sascha Taylor (Mansfield, TX/Stephen F. Austin) were named Second Team All-LSC South Division.

Ingram earned her second straight All-Conference selection after leading the league in homeruns (14) and RBIs (56) in 2003. She now owns Pioneer records for most homeruns and RBIs hit in a season and most homeruns and RBIs hit in a career. Collins finished her first season at TWU by finishing third in the conference and first on the team in batting average with a .445. She also finished tied for second in hits (76), second in RBIs (53) and second in doubles (18) in the LSC, helping her earn Rookie-of-the-Year honors. Flores hit at a .402 clip this season and led the league with nine triples, which is a new school record. She now owns the TWU career mark for most triples hit in a career with 18. England finished off 2003 by leading the Pioneers with a 2.21 ERA and a 17-6 mark. She struck out 118 batters and allowed only 48 earned runs on 121 hits in 152 innings of work. Taylor started 45 games in left field and finished with .428 batting average, good enough to place her fifth in the conference and second on the team. She led the team and finished third in the league with 33 stolen bases. Boudreaux started all 60 games in center field for the Pioneers and led all outfielders with 71 putouts. She hit a .358 clip and recorded 10 doubles, five triples and one homerun.

Collins and Taylor were also both named to the Lone Star Conference All-Tournament team. Collins recorded her selection at third base while Taylor picked up her honor at designated player.

Lone Star Conference champion Angelo State placed five players on the first team and five more on the second team when league officials released the LSC South Division postseason honors for softball. ASU's 10 selections was the most of any school, while Texas Woman's added six overall picks and Tarleton State had five. Angelo State and Tarleton shared the regular season South Division championship, while TWU finished third in the standings. Tarleton made its presence felt with the special recognition awards as outfielder Monica Garza was hailed as Player-of-the-Year, right-hander Carla Geeslin as Pitcher-of-the-Year and skipper Julie Mata as Coach-of-the-Year. Eastern New Mexico outfielder Nikki Gay was named Freshman-of-the-Year.
