PIONEER SOFTBALL RANKED
NO. 3 IN SECOND SOUTH CENTRAL REGION POLL
DENTON, TX—The NCAA Division
II Women's Softball Committee has released this week's Division
II women's softball regional poll and Texas Woman's
University (28-11-1, 7-1 conf.) is ranked No. 3 behind Lone
Star Conference rival Angelo State in the top spot and defending
national champion St. Mary's.
After starting the season kind of slow, the Pioneers have
rattled off nine straight victories and 16 of the last 18.
They are sitting atop the Lone Star Conference South Division
with a 7-1 record, with a key battle against ASU coming this
weekend. TWU was ranked in every regional poll last season,
with their highest spot coming at No. 2 on April 18, 2002.
Up
next, the Pioneers host Angelo State in a four-game series
on Friday and Saturday, April 4-5. Friday's doubleheader
will begin at 5:00 p.m. with Saturday's games to start at
1:00 p.m.
