Nakia Westbrook was selected as one of three captains for the 2006 season in a vote by the team.
2005: Competed on the floor exercise in every meet and missed just one meet on the vault...recorded a season-high score of 9.750 on the vault three times...registered her best score of the year with a 9.875 on the floor against USU...a MIC and USAG Scholar-Athlete.
2004: Had a break-out performance against No. 10 LSU and No. 11 Arizona on Feb. 23…scored personal bests of 9.875 on vault and 9.75 on floor exercise during the tri-meet in Denton…also scored her career-high 9.75 on floor at a Jan. 30 meet at LSU…placed fifth on the vault at the Rocky Mountain Open on Jan. 17…a Scholastic All-Conference selection.
2003: Earned a spot in the Pioneer vault line-up during eight meets, averaging 9.622...scored a personal best 9.725 at Kentucky on February 7...also competed on the floor exercise rotation during three meets, scoring a career-high 9.450 against Air Force on March 14...named Scholastic All-America by the National Association of Collegiate Gymnastics Coaches/Women.
HIGH SCHOOL: Graduated from Round Rock High School in 2002 with a 3.5 GPA...lettered in gymnastics for four years and cheerleading for two...earned High School All-America honors in the floor exercise as a freshman and in the all-around her final three years of school...also named First Team All-State on the vault from 1999-2002...voted Lady Dragon of the Year and Best All-Around Cheerleader at Round Rock H.S. in 2001-02...was coached by Brandy Haney, Seleta Daniell and Carrie Culpepper in high school.
PERSONAL: A kinesiology major...the daughter of Guy and Anita Westbrook...enjoys hanging out with friends and going to the movies.
