NCAA
APPROVES ANOTHER YEAR FOR GIAMETTA
DENTON – Texas Woman’s
University Director of Athletics Chalese Connors has been
notified that
the NCAA Administrative
Review Subcommittee has granted the waiver request regarding
gymnast Dana Giametta. Giametta will be allowed to compete
one more season.
“Obviously,
we are very excited that we were able to demonstrate that
Dana deserved another year,” said head coach Frank
Kudlac, “She
has improved every year, including her best season last year, and we
look for
her to continue
to do so.”
Giametta
returns after earning her second USA Gymnastics all-America
honor on the uneven bars at the 2004 National Championships.
The
Brookshire, Texas, native competes in the all-around for
the Pioneers and set career best marks in the bars (9.85)
and floor (9.80) last
year.
“Dana
brings a tremendous amount of leadership to the team because
of this experience,” added Kudlac.
The
Pioneers begin the 2005 campaign Dec. 3 with their annual
Intra-squad meet
beginning at 7:00 p.m.
