RECORD SEASON BEST SCORE IN ROCKY MOUNTAINS
Rehm Ties for Second on Uneven Bars with
Personal Best
COLORADO
SPRINGS, Colo. – The TWU
gymnastics team scored a season-best 191.325 to finish
a close fourth behind host Air Force with 191.650. San
Jose State won the me et (193.875) and Utah State placed
second (192.800). Wisconsin-Eau Claire rounded out the
field in fifth with a score of 185.525.
The
Pioneers had outstanding performances from several individuals,
including sophomore Bethany
Rehm (St. Charles, MO) who
tied for second on the uneven bars with a career-high score
of 9.85. Classmates Kia
Westbrook (Round Rock, TX) and Amber
McMeans (Hurst, TX) also earned Top 5 finishes on
individual apparatus. Westbrook's score of 9.675 on the vault
placed fifth overall. McMeans finished fourth on the floor
exercise with a score of 9.8, which led to a sixth place
finish in the all-around with a season-best score of 38.100.
Junior Rachel Goddard (Scarborough, ONT) competed
in the all-around for the first time in her career and placed
seventh overall with a comprehensive score of 38.075.
"I
am proud of our team for coming back the way they did after
last week's performance," said head coach Frank
Kudlac. "We were night and day as far as our
competition level and gives us something to work toward this
week. We are looking forward to coming home."
The
Pioneers will be coming home to Kitty Magee Arena on Saturday,
January 24 for a 7 p.m. quad meet with Oklahoma, Southern
Utah and a rematch with the Air Force Academy.
