PIONEER GYMNASTICS EARNS TEAM AND INDIVIDUAL SCHOLASTIC HONORS

DENTON, TX—The 2002-03 Texas Woman's University gymnastics team ranked No. 9 in the 2003 National Association of Collegiate Gymnastics Coaches/Women (NACGC/W) Top 50 Scholastic rankings with a team grade point average of 3.47. The NACGC/W Top 50 ranks all women's gymnastics programs in the United States in NCAA Divisions I, II, III. TWU's team GPA places it first among Division II institutions.

“I am very proud of the hard work that all of my gymnasts put into their class work. This honor says a lot about the type of student-athletes we have at Texas Woman's University,” head coach Frank Kudlac said. “Not only did these ladies win a national championship this season, but they found time to excel in the classroom as well. This is a great honor for our team and TWU.”

Eleven Pioneers were named Scholastic All-Americans, finishing the school year with a 3.50 GPA or better. From this year's team, they are senior Brandi Smith (Smithville, TX/Smithville H.S.), senior Kim Holland (McKinney, TX/Allen H.S.), senior Stephanie Loudat (Houston, TX/Cy-Falls H.S.), senior Luci Romberg (Foxfield, CO/Cherry Creek H.S.), sophomore Erin MacNabb (Glenwood, MD/ Notre Dame Prep.), sophomore Jennifer Bolli (Rockwall, TX/Rockwall H.S.), sophomore Jessica Brozovich (Broomfield, CO/Erie H.S.), sophomore Lauren Kondikoff (Mesquite, TX/Dallas Christian H.S.), freshman Bethany Rehm (St. Charles, MO/Francis Howell H.S.), freshman Aubree Murray (Farmers Branch, TX/R.L. Turner H.S.) and freshman Nakia Westbrook (Round Rock, TX/Round Rock H.S.).

The 11 Scholastic All-Americans are the most of any Division II school in the Top 50 list and it ties the 1994 Pioneer gymnastics team which also had 11 Scholastic All-Americans. The 3.47 team GPA is the highest team average TWU has recorded since they started ranking the NACGC/W Top 50 in 1990. The Pioneers previous high team GPA was recorded in 2002 at a 3.40.
