GYMNASTS EARN FIRST TEAM VERIZON ACADEMIC
ALL-DISTRICT
VI HONORS

TXThe 2003 Verizon Academic All-District VI Women's
At-Large team was announced and Texas Woman's University
recorded four first team selections, the most by any school
in the College Division. Senior's Kim Holland (McKinney,
TX/ Allen H.S.), Stephanie Loudat (Houston, TX/Cy-Falls
H.S.) and Brandi Smith (Smithville, TX/Smithville
H.S.) along with sophomore Erin MacNabb (Glenwood,
MD/Notre Dame Prep.) were all named First Team Verizon
Academic All-District VI. The Academic All-District team
is selected by members of the College Sports Information
Directors of America (CoSIDA) and is part of the Verizon
Academic All-America program. Each will advance for consideration
to the Verizon Academic All-America team.
Holland
counted towards the team total on vault and floor in 17 of
19 meets this season and set season-highs of 9.725 on vault,
9.725 on bars and 9.825 on floor. She was ranked in the USAG
top 10 on floor and vault for the entire season and earned
her third USAG All-American honor on vault at the 2003 national
championships. Holland was tabbed a NACGC/W Scholastic All-American
in 2001 and 2002 and a USAG Scholar Athlete in 2002 and 2003.
She was a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee
from 2001-2003 and named Who's Who Among Students in American
Universities and Colleges.
Loudat
makes her second straight selection to the All-District VI
first team. She counted towards the team total on bars and
beam in every meet this season and set a new school record
on beam with a 9.900 at the Midwest Independent Championships
on March 29. Loudat also tied a school record of 9.925 on
bars vs. Air Force on March 16. She is a three-time USAG
All-American on bars and beam and was the Individual National
Champion on bars at the 2003 USAG Collegiate National Championships.
She was a NACGC/W Scholastic All-American in 2001 and 2002
and a USAG Scholar Athlete in 2002 and 2003.
Like Loudat,
Smith makes her second straight selection to the All-District
VI first team. She recorded a season-high of 9.675 on vault
vs. Air Force on March 16 and set a new personal best of
9.875 on beam at the Midwest Independent Championships on
March 29. Smith was named Third Team Verizon Academic All-America
in 2002, along with being a member of the National Dean's
List from 1999-2002. Smith is a member of Who's Who Among
Students in American Universities and Colleges and was tabbed
a USAG Scholar Athlete in 2002 and 2003.
MacNabb
counted towards the team total on bars in 7 of 19 meets this
season and recorded a season-high of 9.850 vs. Air Force
on March 16. She tied her own school record of 9.925 on bars
at the 2003 USAG Women's Team Final and was named a USAG
All-American on bars in 2002. MacNabb has made TWU's Dean's
list all four semesters of school and was a NACGC/W Scholastic
All-American in 2002. She is a member of the Student-Athlete
Advisory Committee and has career highs of 9.625 on vault,
9.925 on bars (school record), 9.850 on beam, 9.625 on floor
and 37.975 in the all-around.
