KUDLAC INKS ONE MORE
GYMNAST TO 2002-03 ROSTER
DENTON, TX--Pioneers' head gymnastics coach Frank Kudlac
announced the signing of Amber McMeans (Hurst, TX/L.D.
Bell H.S.) to a National Letter of Intent at Texas Woman's
University for the upcoming 2002-2003 academic year. McMeans
is a 5'4 vault and floor exercise specialist who will
major in Mass Communications at TWU. The late signing period
for gymnastics runs from April 10 through August 1, 2002.
Amber has been one of the most talented all-around gymnasts
to come out of Texas in the past couple of years, head
coach Frank Kudlac said. She hopes to be an all-around
performer, but her strengths will be on vault and floor exercise.
We are very excited to have her join our team and she will
help to add a lot of depth to our lineup.
McMeans graduated from L.D. Bell High School in 2002 and lettered
in gymnastics for four years. She was tabbed a National Elite
Gymnast, High School All-America and All-State in the all-around
all four years of high school. In 2001, McMeans won the all-around
at the Texas State High School Championships and at the Junior
Olympics in Reggio Emilia, Italy. She qualified for the USAG
Level 9 Western Nationals in 2000 and 2001, placing fifth on
the floor in 2001. McMeans won state titles on the beam in
2000 and 2001 and the uneven bars in 2002, setting new state
records for both events.
An outstanding student, McMeans graduated with a 3.38 GPA
and was a member of the National Honor Society, Who's Who
Among American High School Students, the National Art Honor
Society and the A-Honor Roll at L.D. Bell. She is a member
of the Gym City Stars club gymnastics in Haltom City, Tex.
from 1997-2001 and was coached by Debbie Williams at L.D. Bell
High School.
McMeans
is the daughter of Fred and Vicki McMeans of Hurst, Tex.
She is a member of
the Legacy Church of Christ and enjoys hanging out with friends
and family in her spare time.
