DENTON, Texas (May 1) – The Texas Woman’s University gymnastics team, winners of the 2008 USA Gymnastics Women’s Collegiate National Championship, will be honored at a reception hosted by the TWU Athletics department on Tuesday, May 6, from 4:00-5:00 p.m. in the Hubbard Hall banquet room on the TWU campus.

DENTON, Texas (April 14) – The Texas Woman’s University gymnastics team will travel to Shreveport, Louisiana this week to take part in the 2008 USA Gymnastics Women’s Collegiate National Championships. The Pioneers, who have dominated this event with eight team crowns since 1993, are participating in the eight-team competition April 17-19 at The Gold Dome on the campus of Centenary College.

DENTON, Texas (January 11) A live musical performance from Denton’s very own Brave Combo will kick off the 2008 home schedule for the Texas Woman’s University gymnastics team on Saturday, January 19.

The two-time Grammy Award winning band will take the stage at 6:00 p.m. in Kitty Magee Arena prior to the Pioneers’ 7:00 p.m. dual meet against the eighth-ranked University of Oklahoma Sooners. They will play for a full hour prior to the meet. They will also stick around and perform between the four rotations of the meet.

DENTON, Texas (December 5) The annual TWU Gymnastics Intrasquad meet will be held this Friday, December 7, at 7:00 p.m. in Kitty Magee Arena.

Friday night’s meet can best be described in one word - free. Admission is free, the first 150 fans through the Magee Arena doors will receive a free TWU Gymnastics “Pioneer Proud” t-shirt, and free CiCi’s pizza will be given away to all fans while supplies last.

DENTON, Texas (October 9) The foursome representing Point Bank – Ray David, Deke Alexander, Edgar Evans, and Jonathon David – claimed first place at the TWU Gymnastics Fundraising Golf Tournament held on Monday, October 8, at the Wildhorse Golf Club at Robson Ranch in Denton.

TWU GYMNASTICS WILL HOST FUNDRAISING GOLF TOURNAMENT

DENTON, Texas (September 13) The Texas Woman’s University Gymnastics team will host a fundraising golf tournament on Monday, October 8, 2007, at the Wildhorse Golf Club at Robson Ranch in Denton.

The tournament, which will begin with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start, will be a four-person modified scramble. Trophies will be awarded for the low gross teams. A hole-in-one on Hole 4 will win a lucky golfer a new automobile. Prizes will also be given away for closest to the hole (on Hole 7 and 11), longest putt made (on Hole 8), landing on the green (on Hole 12), the closest approach shot (on Hole 13), and the longest drive (on Hole 14). All golfers will also have the opportunity to win a wide array of raffle prizes.

GOERLITZ NAMED TWU GYMNASTICS GRADUATE ASSISTANT COACH

DENTON, Texas (September 11) The Texas Woman’s University Athletic department added a pair of new employees with the recent hiring of two graduate assistants.

Gretchen Goerlitz (GARE-litz) has been named the TWU gymnastics graduate assistant coach while Devry McDonald has been hired as the TWU basketball graduate assistant coach.
