PIONEERS LOSE ON THE ROAD TO TEXAS A&M-COMMERCE
Prescher One Point Shy of Career Mark

DENTON, Texas – Seniors Julie Prescher (Valley View, TX) and Lacey Pemberton (Hawkins, TX) both scored in double figures for the Texas Woman’s basketball team Thursday night, but it was not enough. Texas A&M-Commerce earned a little revenge on its home court and defeated the Pioneers, 76-56.

Prescher scored a team-best 22 points, just one point shy of tying her career-high, and grabbed six rebounds. Pemberton scored 10 points in the first half, but was held scoreless in the second as the Lions came out from the half and shot 51.4 percent from the field.

“We really never had an answer for their intensity,” said TWU head coach Devin Gabbard. “We didn’t come out focused and became careless with the basketball. And, we just couldn’t match up with them inside.”

TWU falls to 2-24 on the season and 1-12 in the Lone Star Conference. The Pioneers beat Texas A&M-Commerce, 81-80, earlier in the season at Kitty Magee Arena. TWU will close out the 2004 season in another road game at Texas A&M-Kingsville this Saturday, February 28. Tip-off is 7 p.m.
