FRAZIER RECORDS DOUBLE-DOUBLE IN LOSS TO WEST TEXAS A&M
Nationally-Ranked Lady Buffs Make Late First Half Run

DENTON, Texas – No. 22 West Texas A&M went on a 20-2 run to end the first half, creating a deficit from which the Pioneers could not recover and TWU suffered a 73-41 loss at Kitty Magee Arena.

The Pioneers started strong against their nationally-ranked foe, holding a lead until the 9:06 mark of the first half and causing 10 turnovers by the Lady Buffs. West Texas A&M then scored 10 unanswered points and held TWU to just one more field goal in the first half to take a 32-15 advantage into the half.

“The first 10 minutes went very well for us,” said TWU head coach Devin Gabbard. “We stuck with our game plan to stay settled, hold onto the basketball and make them work on defense. Then they seemed to doubt themselves and that’s went it went wrong.”

There was another bright spot in the play of TWU junior Kenyada Frazier (Denver, CO), who was credited with her second double-double in a week. Frazier led the team with a game-high 17 points and 11 rebounds.

“I have never seen Kenyada play with as much as intensity and heart,” Gabbard added. “We are really seeing her develop after coming off of two surgeries and I think she is getting back to being the player she once was.”

The Pioneers (2-17, 1-5 LSC) conclude their five-game homestand at Kitty Magee Arena, hosting Lone Star Conference opponent Eastern New Mexico this Saturday, Feb. 7 for a 3 p.m. tip-off.
