DEFEATS PIONEERS IN LONE STAR BATTLE
Kenyada Frazier Records First Career Double-Double
DENTON,
Texas – Junior Kenyada
Frazier (Denver, CO) scored 10 points and grabbed
a career-best 11 rebounds for her first double-double
in the Pioneers’ 54-51 loss to Texas A&M-Kingsville.
There
were eight lead changes in the game. TWU held a three-point
lead (43-40) midway through the second half as Frazier and
senior Daphne Lyons (Flower Mound, TX) combined
for nine of the Pioneers’ first 13 points after the
intermission. However, Texas A&M-Kingsville went on a
9-2 run over the next four minutes and never looked back.
“Kenyada
played well and did some things to keep us in the ballgame,” said
TWU head coach Devin Gabbard. “As
a team, they just didn’t seem to come out with intensity.
They seemed to put a lot of pressure on themselves which
caused a lot of turnovers.”
The
Pioneers (1-17, 0-5 LSC) continue on their five-game homestand,
welcoming Texas A&M-Commerce to Kitty Magee Arena for
a 3 p.m. tip this Saturday, January 31.
