PIONEERS DROP A SECOND GAME ON THE ROAD
Looking for First Conference Win with Five-Game Homestand Ahead

ABILENE, Texas – Despite a game-high 14 points from TWU junior forward Kenyada Frazier (Denver, CO), the Pioneers lost to Abilene Christian, 77-50, Saturday afternoon.

Senior forwards Lacey Pemberton (Hawkins, TX) and Daphne Lyons (Flower Mound, TX) also had good performances on the road. Pemberton added 11 points, with 5-of-8 shooting from the field, and Lyons just missed a double-double with nine points and eight rebounds on the afternoon.

“Abilene did a great job of shutting down our guards, making it tough for them to get a look much less a good shot off,” said TWU head coach Devin Gabbard. “We just need to be more consistent across the board to be more productive.”

The Wildcats outrebounded TWU, 56-41, on the strength of 16 rebounds from senior center Melanie Carter.

The Pioneers (1-15, 0-3) will look for their first Lone Star Conference victory as they begin a five-game homestand. TWU returns home Tuesday, January 27 to face Midwestern State at 7 p.m. at Kitty Magee Arena.
