PRESCHER
GIVES CAREER PERFORMANCE AGAINST CAMERON
TWU Drops 80-61 Decision to Lady Aggies
DENTON,
Texas – Senior
guard Julie Prescher (Valley View, TX) tied
a TWU school record with seven three-pointers in the
Pioneers’ 80-61 loss to Cameron. Prescher’s
long-range shooting led to career-high offensive performance
with 23 points on the afternoon.
“Julie
(Prescher) was just unbelievable,” said TWU head coach Devin
Gabbard. “She’s a shooter. I think if
she could have just gotten a few more looks she would have
had 10 (three-pointers).”
The
Pioneers tied it up midway through the first half when freshman
point guard Megan McCrummen (Mesquite, TX) sunk the team’s
only other three-pointer. McCrummen’s three was off
an assist from Prescher. Cameron then sank six unanswered
points and never looked back.
TWU
did play a tough second half, shooting 48 percent from the
field. Seniors Daphne Lyons (Flower Mound, TX) and Lacey
Pemberton (Hawkins, TX) each added 10 points to
the Pioneers’ final total.
The
Pioneers (1-13) go on the road next weekend to resume their
Lone Star Conference schedule with games at Angelo State
and Abilene Christian. TWU returns home on Tuesday, January
27 to face Midwestern State. Tip-off is 7 p.m. at Kitty Magee
Arena.
